Day 20 of 31
Let's talk about our men ...
We learn today that this P31 woman is not the only leader in her home. Her husband is well-respected and known in the city. And she is an ASSET to him.
(Reminds me of Day 4 where we talked about increasing our husbands creditability)
During Bible times, the "gates" were the center of civic and economic life. So for him to "be known" and sit with the "elders" .. this P31 should be proud to be his bride.
NOTE: The Bible does not say the man has to be the breadwinner. He doesn't have to make the most money. The wife is totally ok to work outside the home. Our culture's stereotypical hierarchy of significance (money, title, popularity) doesn't GUARANTEE respect and influence.
Her husband earned his influence in their town through his heart and integrity. Sounds like two peas in a pod, eh?
Ladies, ask yourself these questions today?
- Does who we are hold our husband back?
- Does who we are enhance his reputation and influence?
Also, what is you are still single? What if you married an unbeliever? What is your husband is NOT a respected leader?
Let's serve and love and lead anyways. Live your life full of integrity and be an example to him (not through verbally telling him what to do better... but demonstrating random acts of kindness and selflessness).
I'm going to close today with a list of ways we can pray for our husband. Get serious about this. Prayer is so important in your marriage.
- Pray about his relationship with God
- Pray about his success and influence with others
- Praise Him in public
- Praise Him in private
- Thank him daily
- Ask, "What's one thing I can do to help you today?"
- Spend 10 minutes in prayer for every 1 minute of criticism
- Let him lead
- In arguments, be on the side of your marriage.
- Be his safe place.
