Day 23 of 31
Discipline & Dignity
Since we've learned that this P31 woman makes clothing for a living ... and she is still described as being CLOTHED in "strength & dignity" ... I'd say those are two character traits EASILY and QUICKLY identified within her from any passer byer (is that a word?).
As a health & fitness coach, that's like me joking that my left and right biceps are called sassy and spunk.
It's just fun. A cute and meaningful summary.
This verse is PACKED with goodness. We are going to go big today. Pull up a seat. Get comfy. Stay focused.
Actually, do me a favor? STOP EVERYTHING. And say a prayer. Ask God to wake up your heart & mind. To give you wisdom and a listening ear to soak in His Word right in this moment.
... did you pray? Did you do it?
Ok, we are back!
Strength, whether it is physical, mental, emotional or spiritual is the result of discipline. Always. Strength doesn't JUST appear. It's the byproduct of discipline.
"Discipline is choosing what I want MOST instead of what I want NOW."
Dignity = she is worthy of respect.
How do you gain respect? 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 gives up a pretty crisp breakdown:
"Stay calm; mind your own business; do your own job. You’ve heard all this from us before, but a reminder never hurts. We want you living in a way that will command the respect of outsiders, not lying around sponging off your friends."
I'd say that sums it up. BOOM.
