Day 15 of 31 of FHH

Day 15 of 21

Grunt Work
Our verse today is Proverbs 31:19, "She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hands grasp the spindle." She what the what?

These are tools required for spinning fibers into yarn. Yarn becomes fabric. Fabric becomes textiles. Textiles becomes clothing.

When I saw this picture, I giggled because I can relate. I am not making clothing... but I have my hands full (and heart full) too. This is my spindle and distaff.

To spend the tedious time to CREATE the yarn (remember, she has maidens too!), she is obviously not too good for this kind of grunt work. It's not that she HAS to do everything on her own. But when the time comes, she is never "too good" to any tasks.

"Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might.
For when you go to your grave, there will be no
work, planning, knowledge or wisdom." Ecclesiastes 9:10

My biggest takeaway is that she works diligently at the task at hand. She does everything with excellence. And if you aren't doing things with excellence, then take Jesus' name out of it because it will poorly represent Him.

Sister, friend, peer : I am here to tell you. Work ethic is important. Getting a sense of satisfaction after a diligent day is rewarding. It honors God. And that's enough for me.

This P31 woman extended, stretched and grasped. Not for her gain, but for God's. To honor her responsibilities. To help her family. To rely more on God's strength than her small-minded strength.

We can do the same. She tapped into God's strength and power - so can we! He is the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow!

How can you improve your work ethic? What is your attitude when it comes to hard work?
